Swapfiets is composed of the English word "swap" and the Dutch word for bike, "fiets". The concept is extremely simple. For a fixed monthly fee you get a Swapfiets luxurious bike with double lock and the iconic blue front tire.
If something happens to your Swapfiets, you can get in touch with us and we will repair your Swapfiets for free, whenever and wherever you like within 48 hours. If we can't fix it within 10 minutes, we will provide you with another working Swapfiets. As a result, you are always assured to be back on the road again in no time.

What is the difference between a Swapfiets-bike and a so-called lease-bike?
Compared to complicated and expensive lease contracts, Swapfiets never charges you with interest or wear and tear depreciation. Furthermore, our subscription can be cancelled monthly and our pricing is always transparent.
What does a Swap mean?
If your Swapfiets is broken, we come over to swap it for another, working one. Small repairs can be carried out on location. You're back on the road before you know it.
A Swap can also mean:
- Switching to a different bike
- Getting another bike after your bike is gone
- Getting a new key
What does a Swap costs?
A swap is included in our service and comes with no extra costs. This applies to an appointment in the store as well as on your location. However, some damage to the bike (such as vandalism) is not covered by the service and may be charged extra. Find our possible additional charges here.
What is the difference between a regular and heavy use subscription?
A Regular subscription is meant for non-commercial usage only. Furthermore, members who have a regular subscription are only allowed to ride up to 1.000 km per month.
A Heavy subscription on the other hand is allowed to be used for non-commercial and commercial usage. Members have no maximum mileage to their subscription.
What is the difference between Swap bikes and share bikes?
At Swapfiets, the Swapfiets is all yours. You get your own key and you don't have to share it with others.
Can I purchase the bike instead of subscribing?
No, we are sorry! Our unique Swapfiets can only be subscribed.
